About me
I serve as a school administration consultant with Wisconsin's education department, supporting charter operators and authorizers in navigating bureaucratic burdens, so they can focus on educating Wisconsin students. Primarily, I provide guidance on issues related to establishing independent charter schools as Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and provide technical assistance on meeting compliance and reporting obligations. Prior to joining the Department of Public Instruction, I served as an advisor for school governance and compliance at Memphis-Shelby County (Tenn.) Schools Office of Charter Schools, the largest charter school authorizer in Tennessee. My work included developing and implementing new systems of charter school oversight and accountability and defending local board new start, revocation, and non-renewal decisions before the Tennessee State Board of Education on appeal.
I began my career in education as a summer school special education program aide in my hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin two summers during college. I completed a term of service with the national community service organization AmeriCorps as a VISTA placed at Memphis-Shelby County Schools, helping facilitate strategic partnerships with academic, government, and business and economic stakeholders to address resource needs at 45 of the highest-need schools in the District. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Auburn University, a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Memphis, and a Juris Doctorate from Memphis.
I was the mascot, Rowdy the Red Devil, when I was in high school.
